This Masjid was built about 500 years ago by the Sayed Families of Matiari.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 18pt; color: #000000;\">It is said that it was first renovated by Bibi Zainab and Bibi Khadeeja Al-Kubra of the Baqar Pota SAYED family, sisters to Sayed Muhammad Baqar Shah. There is a home (haveli) of the SAYED family in the south of Masjid where legendary Sindhi Poet Hazrat Shah Abdul Karim of Bulri was born. Even today, it is said, an oil lamp is lit in the southern corner of the Masjid in the name of this legendary mystic saint.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 18pt; color: #000000;\">Its renovation and reconstruction occurred in 1803 A.D (1217 H)when Mir Murad Ali Khan Talpur (later the ruler of Sindh), while traveling nearby through the river, upon laying an eye on the Masjid, came to visit it, and thereby decided to renovate and reconstruct it. The Legendary Sindhi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai is also said to have visited this Masjid quite often. There was a particular place where he always offered prayer called his Pistaq (Sitting Place)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 18pt; color: #000000;\">This Masjid has also been known for religious debates being held in it. Even today, the Masjid remains the center of religious activities in the area. After <strong>Sayed Hafiz Ali Nawaz Shah<\/strong> (Who offered Taraweeh Namaz as Imam for 50 Years), his son <strong>Dr. Sayed Shehzado Shah<\/strong> became the caretaker of this Masjid. After his incidental death in 1999, his brother<strong> Prof. Sayed Badar ul Zaman Shah<\/strong> performing the mentioned duty till today. Before 1947, Akhund Abdullah Abbasi, and in later times Hafiz Abbas Mughal were the noteworthy Imams of the Masjid.
