Street Lights and Fog Lights
Upon assuming leadership of Government Boys Degree College Matiari on December 12, 2019, I was immediately confronted with a significant and pressing challenge: the entire college was devoid of adequate lighting and lacked proper electrical installations. This situation was particularly alarming, as the absence of illumination not only created an unsafe environment for students and staff but also hindered the overall functionality of the institution. Compounding this issue was the fact that the boundary walls surrounding the college were in a state of complete disrepair, rendering the campus vulnerable and easily accessible to the public. This lack of security posed a serious risk to the safety of the students and the integrity of the college’s resources.
Moreover, I discovered that various departments had established their offices within the college grounds, further complicating the situation. The presence of these offices without proper lighting and security measures created an environment that was not conducive to effective learning or administration. Recognizing the urgency of these issues, I took immediate action to address them.
I promptly initiated a comprehensive plan to install proper electrical fittings and lighting throughout the college. This involved not only the installation of lights in classrooms and common areas but also the strategic placement of lighting fixtures in outdoor spaces, including pathways, gardens, and parking areas. To enhance visibility and safety, I erected poles along the roads and gardens, ensuring that all areas of the campus were well-lit and secure.
Additionally, I focused on illuminating the main building, which serves as the college’s focal point. By installing high-quality lights on the exterior of the main building, I was able to create a welcoming and safe atmosphere for students, faculty, and visitors alike. The improvements made to the college’s lighting system significantly enhanced the overall illumination of the campus, ensuring that it remained bright and accessible at all times, even after sunset.
Through these efforts, I not only addressed the immediate concerns regarding safety and security but also fostered a more conducive learning environment for students and staff. The transformation of the college’s lighting and electrical infrastructure marked a significant step forward in revitalizing the institution and promoting a sense of community and belonging among its members.
